Dawsons Professional Department is one of the most active in Swansea, providing commercial and residential valuations, block management, rent reviews, lease renewals, rating appeals and leasehold enfranchisement advice.
The client base is varied from National Banks and Pension Funds to the “man on the street”.
We are able to value commercial and residential properties throughout South Wales as well as providing lease renewal and rent review advice over the same patch. We are able to provide advice on investment purchases or sales and actively purchase property for clients through a number of sources throughout the UK. We also undertake Expert Witness work on residential and commercial properties for Court Purposes.
Partner - Head of Commercial and Professional Services
James has been a partner of the company since 2008, having joined in January 2005, after gaining experience for 3 years in Donaldsons in London and then a further 3 years at DTZ in Cardiff. James qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2002.
His main role incorporates the management of the commercial clients, undertaking rent reviews and lease renewals (for both landlords and tenants), advising clients on investment purchases, commercial valuation (for Banks, Pension Funds, and private clients) and Expert Witness work for Court purposes. James is also the firm’s Auctioneer.
Outside of the office you will find James out walking the coastline or enjoying quality family time on the slopes.

Partner – Head of Block & Estate Management
Rob joined Dawsons as a graduate Surveyor back in 2001, completing his training and qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2005, before leaving to join a National Property Consultant firm in 2007. Two years later, Robert formed CLC Chartered Surveyors, a general surveying practice with his focus on surveying and valuation work.
Rob grew the business to offer Block and Estate Management services, now widely known as CLC Estate Management, where clients include Housebuilders, Private Individuals, Leaseholders, Residents Committees, Charitable Trusts and Right-to-Manage companies.
In 2024 Robert, along with CLC Estate Management, merged with Dawsons, ensuring our offering of 'All Things Property' continues. With Rob returning to Dawsons we are now able to offer a vast expansion on our already extensive property services.
Alongside the Estate Management work, as a RICS Registered Valuer, Rob continues to undertake Valuation and Survey work within the South Wales area.
Surveyor
Joe joined Dawsons in September 2020 and is currently working as a surveyor within the Commercial department. Joe used to manage a data processing department within a social research company before deciding to switch career paths and become a surveyor. Joe has completed a level 6 Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation and became an associate member of the RICs in August 2023.
His main role incorporates the management of the commercial portfolio of properties alongside side James and Lowri, undertaking valuations for a variety of purposes i.e. Lender valuations, Inheritance Tax and Homebuyer Surveys.
Graduate Surveyor
Lowri joined Dawsons commercial team in September 2023 as a graduate surveyor after graduating from the University of Reading. In university Lowri obtained a degree in Real Estate and Planning, gained experience in assisting the Savills residential sales team and completing a two-week internship at Cushman and Wakefield.
Whilst Lowri will assist Joe and James in ‘All Things Commercial’, she will also be undertaking her APC to become MRICS. Outside of the office you will find Lowri enjoying the beautiful Gower peninsula on horseback or spending time relaxing with family and friends.
