Dawsons support Critical Bleed Control Kit Initiative West Glamorgan 2024

We are pleased to announce Dawsons are sponsoring 2 critical bleed control kits (CBC) as of this week. With the location of each being within the defib boxes at Swansea Seafront between the Civic Centre and the Marriott and in Morriston outside the library.

What is a critical Bleed Control Kit?

Following on from the introduction of lifesaving public access defibrillators (PAD) or defibs as we know them in recent years here in Swansea, Critical Bleed Control (CBC) kits are now also being integrated into selected PAD cabinets across Swansea and West Glamorgan.

As well as the PADs, the CBC kits can make the difference between life or death for people who suffer catastrophic bleeding due to accidents, road traffic collisions, impalements, knife crime and more. They can provide immediate assistance before emergency services arrive.

The kits have been designed to be easy to use and include military-grade equipment - such as gloves, dressings and a tourniquet – along with the instructions needed to control blood loss and prevent a person from bleeding out.

DID YOU KNOW: A person can die from blood loss in as little as three to five minutes.

Why Swansea?

With 20,000 critical care kits in locations across England, there were no provisions in Wales; until now

This initiative is being led by the High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, Melanie James JP, in partnership with Heartbeat Trust UK and The Daniel Baird Foundation. Melanie recently secured a £10,000 grant from Swansea Council to fund 100 kits to be housed in Swansea’s existing network of PADs. The High Sheriff would like to see this initiative grow throughout West Glamorgan allowing the general public to save lives where otherwise not possible.

Why Dawsons?

We are a local independent estate agency based within the communities within Swansea and Llanelli, with over our 30+ years in business we have become an integral member of the community in which we are based. We are proud to support the local communities that we serve and when Melanie reached out with this initiative via Swansea BID we of course agreed to help raise awareness and show our support of the Critical Bleed Control Kits.

Ricky Purdy (Dawsons partner and head of lettings) commented:

‘Having sponsored defibrillators throughout Swansea in recent years, we understand the importance of ensuring kits are accessible to all. This initiative goes hand in hand with these life saving devices and will only strengthen the chances of saving a life wherever possible. Whilst we have sponsored two kits in the Morriston and Marina (seafront) area of Swansea we shall continue to support Melanie in this initiative raising awareness where we can. Thank you Melanie, Heartbeat Trust, The Daniel Beird foundation and Swansea Council for bringing these kits to our city.’

Can anyone support this initiative?

YES - Kits are just £95 to sponsor, have a five year expiry date and include essential military-grade equipment to help control catastrophic bleeding due to accidents such as road traffic collisions, workplace incidents, impalements, dog bites, and more.
